A pair of Old English sugar-tongs with bright-cut decoration made in London between 1786 and 1790 by Hester Bateman. They are 13.5 cm long, weigh 29g and are engraved with the original script initials CAB. These tongs have clear marks and good colour. These tongs were made between the introduction of the Cameo duty mark in 1786 and the retirement of Hester Bateman in 1790.
